Trump’s proposal that would never pass the house failed the Senate with a 50-47 vote .
The democrat proposal that has already passed the house failed the Senate with a 52-44 vote, with 6 Republicans switching sides and voting for it .
So Mr. Trump & McConnell - yeah keep on with your ridiculous claims that this is all the Democrats’ fault and if they just bend over to your will then this would not even be an issue. This vote c learly shows the light of day out of this mess is much closer to what the Democrats are offering as a solution.

Completely agree. He knew it wouldn’t pass then but didn’t want to test it because the Republicans themselves controlled everything. But now – if he gets it, great…a stupid campaign promise fulfilled. And if he doesn’t get it, that’s great too because now he gets to point fingers and blame the democrats for all the dysfunction in his presidency.
I’m a firm believer in assessing any and all topics based on their own merits – so this play of holding the rest of the government hostage because he knows his demands have no ability to pass on their own, it’s disgusting.
